How Optical Emission Spectrometer controls interference factors in cast iron?
Jun 02 , 2023How Optical Emission Spectrometer controls interference factors in cast iron
For the steel, cast steel, cast iron and other materials that need to be tested in the foundry industry, they usually contain harmful elements such as sulfur, phosphorus, and lead, as well as manganese, chromium, molybdenum, titanium, and niobium that are specially added to improve the performance of steel, Boron and other alloy elements. When smelting cast iron, the negative influence of interference elements contained in the charge cannot be ignored. In order to ensure the quality of the casting, some necessary countermeasures must be taken. To control the influence of interfering elements, we must first clarify the problem and determine the content of each element that may cause the problem, and then it is possible to take corresponding measures. If it is convenient to analyze the content of various alloy elements, trace elements and other interfering elements with a spark direct reading spectrum analyzer, the composition of the molten iron can be dynamically adjusted to realize real-time control based on the analysis in front of the furnace. At present, few of our country's cast iron manufacturers have such conditions. When analyzing quality problems, there are not many companies that can determine the content of other alloy elements and trace elements in addition to the five elements C, S, Mn, P, and Si. Facing the current situation of many variables in the supply of raw materials, it is difficult to ensure the quality and stability of castings when producing castings with high technological content. From this point of view, it is necessary to equip with the necessary testing facilities.
