What is Non-ferrous Metals?
Non-ferrous metals are the general term for all metals except iron, chromium and manganese. We usually refer to copper, aluminum, lead, zinc, rickel, tin, antimony, mercury, magnesium, and titanium as ten common nonferrous metals.
Classification of Non-ferrous Metals
The international market usually divides non-ferrous metals into base metals, precious metals and small metals. Base metals include copper, aluminum, lead, zinc, nickel,tin,
And the precious metals are the platinum group metals and gold and silver that we commonly use jewelry, and the small metals are other metals except basic metals and precious metals. In practical applications, we usually divide non-ferrous metals into 5 categories.
1. Heavy Metals
Metals with a density greater than 0.53~4.5g/cm3, such as copper, nickel, cobalt, lead, zinc, tin, antimony, bismuth, cadmium, mercury, etc.
2. Light Metals
Metals with a density less than 0.53~4.5g/cm3, such as aluminum, magnesium, potassium, sodium, calcium, strontium, barium, etc.
3. Precious Metals
As is implied by the name, the more expensive metal, with low crustal abundance, difficult purification, and stable chemical properties, such as gold, silver, and platinum group metals.
4. Rare Metals
It includes rare light metals such as lithium, rubidium, cesium, ect. Rare refractory metals, such as titanium, zirconium, molybdenum, tungsten, etc. Rare dispersed metals, such as gallium, indium, germanium, etc. Rare earth metals such as scandium, yttrium, lanthanide metals. Radioactive metals, such as radium, plutonium, and uranium and thorium in the Albanian elements.
5. Metalloid
The nature is between metal and non-metal, such as silicon, selenium, tellurium, arsenic, boron, etc.
The above are the five types of content that are roughly divided into non-ferrous metals in our actual application.
